Tuscany by Laura Carter, Painting - Acrylic

This is one of my newer paintings. I really enjoyed working on this one, I love working with texture. I use plaster on canvas and etch or push shapes right into it. Once I've added the colours I want I complete the piece with a darker wash over top which collects in the textures adding to the details of the piece. It takes a bit of patience to complete one of these as there are quite a few drying stages and many layers but so worth it in the end because the organic look is fantastic. I wish you could see it in person. It's the kind of painting you just want to touch!

Handmade Goodies, Art, Etsy Sellers, Window Shopping and A Rainy Saturday

So today it's a rainy day and I've been doing some window shopping online. I wanted to share some really cool finds from etsy! These are items I love and sellers I admire. If I had the money I would buy each and every one of these handmade goodies!

This is a seller from Barcelona, Spain. Very unique pillows!

Wouldn't you love to have this out on your patio table! Such a beautiful candle holder!
The colours of this photograph are amazing! I love the aged look of it! A fellow Canadian as well.
I love all the pillows from this seller! They are at the top of my wish list!! I have a window bench that needs filling and I've been trying to decide if I want an eclectic collection or keep them all similiar colours and styles. With all the different pillows I've fallen in love with I'm leaning towards eclectic!

Love, love, love this!! Check out his shop because there are alot more to choose from!

This bowl is so beautiful I can't imagine it being filled with anything. I think I would display it as the piece of art it is. Wonderful items in this shop!

These are just a few of the things on my wish list! Etsy is filled with beautiful, unique and fun products just waiting to be discovered!

Teaching the Importance of Social Media and Applying It To Ourselves As Well

So I've been teaching my better half how to set up an etsy shop, how to tweet, put together a facebook fanpage and blog. The funny thing is it turns out I know alot about all this stuff, lot's of research over the years, lot's of trial and error (okay less trial, more error) but I myself don't apply even half of what I told him are his must haves. I don't really have alot of time to spare to cover all my bases, tweeting, blogging, promoting my fanpage, keeping up an etsy shop, keeping my other selling venues current. Not to mention painting the commissions, packaging and shipping sold work, etc, etc. It's alot of work!! So here I am lecturing him on the importance of being consistent just to pull up my own blog and see the last post was in November! Shameful!! I think I will take my own advice, give myself a good old kick in the butt and get busy on at least one thing on my list of to do's.....
